Dean Fisher’s workshops take place in a remarkable studio on the Spannocchia estate near Siena—a spacious, light-filled stone building affectionately called “the museum,” as there are many Etruscan and Roman artifacts displayed along the walls, its arched ceilings, terracotta floors, and thick walls create an atmosphere that feels both timeless and focused.
The studio provides plenty of room for each painter, with large tables and open windows that overlook the Tuscan countryside. It’s an inspiring refuge for days spent painting indoors—whether working from still life setups, portraits, or the model—especially when the weather turns.
“There will be the added focus of still life painting in next year’s program,” Dean notes, “with still lifes set up throughout the week in this large, beautiful studio. It offers the option to mix still life with landscape and portrait painting, and it’s perfect for days when we’re inside.”
