Getting to Venice and Hotel Abbazia

Participants are responsible for arranging their own airfare and transportation to the hotel.

Flying to Venice

For travelers coming from the United States, the most convenient airport is Venice Marco Polo Airport (VCE). Depending on your departure city, flights may be available directly to Venice or with a connection in another U.S. or European city.

Getting to the Hotel

• From Marco Polo Airport, one of the simplest and most economical ways to reach the hotel is by bus. Take either the ATVO Airport Express Bus or ACTV Line 5 public bus from outside the airport terminal to Piazzale Roma, the main bus and automobile terminal in Venice. The trip takes approximately 20–25 minutes.
• From Piazzale Roma, Hotel Abbazia is approximately a 10-minute walk. Cross the Ponte della Costituzione (Constitution Bridge) over the Grand Canal and continue toward the Venezia Santa Lucia train station. (Instead of using the Constitution Bridge you could alternatively use walk via the Papadopoli gardens.)
• The Hotel Abbazia is located just beyond the train station. Continue past the station and the Chiesa degli Scalzi (Scalzi Church) on your left, then turn left onto Calle Priuli dei Cavaletti. The Hotel Abbazia is located at Cannaregio 68, only a short distance down the street.
• Travelers who prefer not to manage luggage on foot can also take a private water taxi from Marco Polo Airport to a landing near the hotel. The cost varies depending on the provider but the private water taxi is likely to be around €110 to €150 total for up to 4 passengers.

Arriving by Train

• If you are traveling to Venice by train, be sure your destination is Venezia Santa Lucia, the main train station located on the island of Venice.
• Hotel Abbazia is only about 100 meters from the station, and there are no bridges to cross. Exit Santa Lucia station and turn left. Continue past the Scalzi Church, then take the first left onto Calle Priuli dei Cavaletti. The hotel is a short walk down the street at Cannaregio 68.
